Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Millard and Linda Fuller founded the Habitat for Humanity movement in 1976 in Georgia. In 1984, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn took their first Habitat work trip, the Jimmy Carter Work Project, to New York City. Their personal involvement in Habitat’s ministry has brought wide-spread global awareness to our organization and its work. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 70 countries.

what we do
Habitat for Humanity Kingston Limestone Region partners with families, businesses, organizations, and individuals to build simple, affordable, and energy efficient homes. These homes are sold to selected families through long term, no-interest mortgages.

how it works
Through our unique affordable home ownership program, we offer families a hand up, empowering them to build strength, stability and self-reliance.
We make this possible for our partner families by:
- Low administrative costs,
- volunteer labour,
- donations and financial support from our community partners,
- ReStore donations and purchases, and
- as much as possible, donated or reduced-cost building materials and services.
