Volunteering - ReStore
"Volunteers Make all the Difference" The ReStore has had another successful year and it would not be possible without the help of our many volunteers. We see new faces almost daily, during 2009 we averaged 25-30 volunteers a month.
All our volunteers have made a positive contribution. Everyone brings a multitude of skills, experiences and knowledge to the ReStore along with enthusiasm and dedication.

Scope of Work: The ReStore takes donations of used and surplus building supplies, and other home improvement items for resale at discounted prices. The proceeds go toward the construction of Habitat homes here in the Kingston, Loyalist, Frontenac area. Volunteers will work with ReStore staff collecting and receiving donated materials, cleaning, pricing and stocking items, and assisting customers.
Timetable: Volunteers work Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am - 4:00pm. Volunteers may work the full day or a half-day shift (i.e., 9-1 or 1-5). Volunteers should plan to arrive fifteen minutes before their shift begins.
Age: Volunteers must be at least age 16. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for every five youth). Every volunteer must complete a volunteer application.
Dress: for volunteers is casual (t-shirts and jeans). Wear clothing you can get dirty, including sturdy boots (steel toed if possible) or closed-in shoes. Sandals are not permitted. Work gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection are available for you at the ReStore.
Responsibilities: Volunteers are responsible for their own lunch and any personal possessions they choose to bring. A break room with a refrigerator and microwave is available, and there are several places to eat in the immediate area.
